Now, the teachings of yoga.
—Yoga Sutra 1.1
The first line of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras gives wisdom about yoga valuable today. It is the acknowledgement that everything you have done in life and other practices, has been in preparation for this moment where: “The study and practice of Yoga begins.” Begin here. Begin now.
All ages, all sizes and all levels of yoga experience are invited to study with Mona, and faculty, at Sun Moon Yoga. Some join for personal growth, and some to gain confidence to be excellent yoga teachers.
Emerge from this course inspired and ready to teach; or, to make use of this transformative material in your personal life.
Whether you are in your twenties or your sixties, if you have a powerful intention, or unsure why you’re drawn towards this experience, you will become part of a cohesive, energetically positive group experience.
Yoga is the doorway to a transformational experience
We work our body and clear our minds as we move from pose to pose.
We ground ourselves through the steadiness of our breath, and at the end of it, we enjoy the exquisite release and quietness of Savasana, which keeps us coming back for more.
We create more awareness and feed our inner light. This shift is essential to help our highest potential unfold. This is how the practice of yoga and mindfulness changes us from deep within.
Teacher trainings deepen this process by helping students understand how these practices work.

I am so ready!
Love yourself. Take excellent care of yourself. Set boundaries to be your best self.
There is no perfection. No perfect pose, no perfect teacher, no perfect human. When we accept our deficits, embrace our flaws and love ourselves we can turn that positive energy onto others and the world.
Respect for the body, all ages, all sizes, all shapes. In this training you will learn how to compassionately adapt yoga to student’s bodies and not given a cookie-cutter idea of what you are supposed to make people’s sacred bodies look like.
It is possible to study the “Foundations of Yoga”, together yet chose different paths. Each person is responsible for their own yoga, spiritual or meditation path; Mona supports the teacher training participants so they feel confident to explore and take action. There is tremendous value, and freedom to be yourself, in a supportive group learning experience.
Mona guides each person in the yoga study to discover, and have confidence in, their own “inner teacher.” She teaches to be supportive, and respectful of the many lineages of yoga - their differences, in style and teachers.
There are many styles and paths in yoga. Diversity in the human body is infinite. Each person is unique and the practice of yoga together is a sacred experience. Only when we let these truths in the door do we see the enormity and seriousness of training to be an excellent yoga teacher.
Your injuries are your best teachers! Your age, size and shape are not reasons to hold back. The world doesn’t need another Instagram gymnast - Mona is seeking students to become teachers with compassion, those experienced with pain and healing, and those who are teaching to benefit humanity.
Teaching yoga is not leading an exercise class! Contemporary respected research from the field of psychoneuroimmunology demonstrates yoga’s potential for demonstrable and evaluative physiological changes in the body.
Yoga builds fitness - but it also helps depression, stress and low self-esteem. Yoga works for mind, body and spirit in the modern world, just as in the ancient one it evolved in. Humanity needs yoga. Your community needs compassionate, educated and qualified yoga teachers.
To complete Yoga Alliance 200 hours, participants must complete eight Weekend Intensives. You may begin in either Fall or Spring but must complete both to meet Yoga Alliance 200-hour Standards.
