Lesson #5: Begin with Breath!
A Pranayama Intensive
March 9-10, 2019
Saturday: 10:00 am to 9:00 pm
Sunday: 9 am to 4 pm
The breath carries the asana as the wind carries the sail. The breath is the inspiration for the asana to deepen and fulfill. Includes: Witnessing the breath, Sama Vritti, Dirgha Pranayama, 2-1 breath, Ujjayi, and Alternate Nostril techniques. Students will demonstrate skill to develop and teach a stand-alone Pranayama Practice for Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced students. The overall intention is for teachers to become confident practicing and teaching a variety of classic yoga breathing exercises.
ASSIGNMENTS: Participants will plan, conduct, film and share (online files) a Pranayama Practice using practices and concepts from training.
Saturday, March 10, 2019:
- 10:00 am to 11:15 am: Asana Practice
- 11:30 am to 4:30 pm: Pranayama training
- 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm: Dinner
- 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm: Pranayama experience
Sunday, March 11, 2019:
- 9 am to 4 pm: Pranayama demonstration
PRESENTER: Candy Bell, MS; 200hr E-RYT, is a founding mother of Sun Moon Yoga. She began her journey with Sun Moon Yoga 200hour training; trained in Pranayama at White Lotus in Santa Barbara, and is currently Co-Director of “Wellness & Leadership,” 300/500RYT. As a teacher, trainer and supporter, Candy has contributed her talents to many studios, and yoga teacher training programs in the region.
