Meditation & Breathwork Facilitator Course
Description: This course will be valuable to experienced and beginning meditators seeking to sustain personal meditation practice and/or facilitate a group. Skills taught also aid facilitation of women’s circle and new moon groups, spiritual, healing and support groups of all kinds.
A Meditation & Breathwork group might meet: In a yoga setting, or with family members at home; co-workers in office conference room, after-school setting with children, therapeutic setting or in a nursing home. You will learn to guide a diverse range of people into relaxation with simple, effective breathwork exercises (pranayama) to release tension and anxiety from body and mind.
While this Course includes learning to lead beginning meditation techniques – it is NOT formalized meditation teacher training. Varied styles and forms of meditation are studied – all require consistent practice. This prepares you to hold space for that practice. This Course prepares Meditation & Breathwork Facilitators to integrate meditators (both beginners and experienced), from varied paths and styles, into a shared experience by:
Creating Sacred Space
Holding energy for a group
Etiquette and Ritual
This Course will teach you to guide yourself, and others, into relaxation and beginning meditation. There are no pre-requisites, and the Course may be taken as a stand-alone training; or as integrated into Wellness & Leadership 300hour* Advanced teacher training with Mona.
All SECTIONS and FORMATS: Cost: $350.
All qualify for credit in Wellness & Leadership Yoga Alliance 300hour. YA – 15 Contact; 20 non-contact hours home study required. Non-contact hours include online research, written reports and home study.
Option 1: Summer Thursdays at Sun Moon Yoga
Section I: 10-11:30 am
Section II: 7-8:30 pm
Both Sections: June 21 to Aug. 23 (no class June 28)
Course Sections require 6 minimum; pre-registered by June 21st.
Option 2: Retreat in Santa Fe; Thursday, Sept. 27 to Sunday, Sept. 30
Additional Costs: Airfare, accommodations, etc. apply.
Option I: Spring Sundays at Sun Moon Yoga
Time: Sundays: 11:30 am to 1:45 pm
Dates: March 31 to June 9; (no class on Easter; 4/21).
Option II: Wellness & Leadership Two-Day Intensive
Dates: Saturday: 11:30 am to 9 pm (lunch/dinner breaks) and Sunday: 9 am to 2 pm.
Meditation is a practice requiring consistent support. You do not have to be an expert meditator, or yoga teacher, to offer support. Needed are skills to facilitate a group supportive of individual’s meditation style choices. Meditation & Breathwork Facilitator Course covers optimum meditation positions; explores props to prepare diversity in body types to sit, or lay on the floor comfortably. However, it is not necessary to get down to the floor. This course can be taken, and offered, from a chair or wheelchair.

You will be practicing at Sun Moon Yoga, or at Retreat, with Mona and a supportive group of people who share the goal of incorporating more mindfulness into our lives, community, society and world.
